Nation: Regno d’Italia
Capital: Vatican City
Leader(s): King Victor Emmanuel III
Following the unification of Italy, with the most recent territory annexations of Tripolitania from the Italo-Turkish War, Italy is being lead by the Monarch Victor Emanuel II. The crown was passed to him after the assassination of his father by anarchists. Under his leadership, the unified Italian Kingdom strengthened its military and borders against impending attacks. In order to strengthen the connection with the papalcy, and separate the Catholic Church from their largest land competitor, the empire of France, The king used his right of Jus exclusivae in order to place an Italian Pope, Pius X, into power and provided him a place in leadership allowing for the church to further back the dominion of the king.
Under the leadership of Italy, no action could be taken to disrupt their good relationship with their catholic neighbor of France, however, not wanting to lose out on the chance of expansion the King turned to the pope to raise an army to claim the newly found continents in the name of Italy and the church. By backing the popes Anti-modernist push for the catholic church, an army was raised of Catholics who acted on behalf of the pope.
